Learning new topics matters less in the final weeks than full-length mocks, spotting patterns and fixing errors. Use the section pages for a detailed plan.

Section-wise preparation tips

VARC
  • Read long-form articles daily (The Hindu, The Economist, HBR) to build speed on dense text.
  • In RC, choose answers the passage supports; avoid options that go beyond it.
  • For para jumbles, find the mandatory pairs first (pronouns, connectors, cause-effect) and eliminate options that break them.
  • For para summary, pick the option that captures the main argument, not a side detail.
  • Skip word lists; CAT does not test vocabulary directly.
DILR
  • Practise 2-3 sets daily from 2017-2025 papers.
  • In the exam, spend the first 3-5 minutes scanning all sets and commit to the two most approachable.
  • Games and tournaments, arrangements and scheduling appear most often; build speed on them.
  • Two sets done accurately beat three half-done sets.
QA
  • Fix basics from Class 10-12 NCERT, especially Arithmetic and Algebra.
  • Practise TITA questions without options so you can reach exact answers.
  • Learn standard shortcuts for Number System and Geometry.
  • Use the on-screen calculator only for the final step.
Last 8 weeks strategy
  • Take 10-15 full-length mocks at the time of day of your expected slot.
  • Spend as long on mock analysis as on the mock; tag errors as concept, silly mistake or strategy.
  • Aim for accuracy over attempts: a 70% attempt rate at 90% accuracy beats 90% attempts at 70% accuracy.
  • Stop adding new topics in the last two weeks; only revise.
  • Download the admit card on November 4, check every detail and visit the centre route a day early.

Three habits that raise scores

Analyse every mock

Spend as long on analysis as on the test. Tag each error as concept, silly mistake or strategy.

Pick the right questions

Skipping a bad set saves more time than finishing it slowly.

Revise weekly

A short weekly revision of formulae and mistakes beats one big revision at the end.
