DILR has 22 questions in 4 to 5 sets, each set sharing one data table, chart or puzzle. You have 40 minutes, so you cannot solve every set. Picking the right sets is the real skill.

A set that looks complex at first is often easy once you draw the right table. A set that looks easy can hide a trap. This page explains what usually appears and how to choose.

How to choose sets in the exam

  1. 1Spend the first 4-5 minutes reading every set once, without solving.
  2. 2Rate each set as easy, medium or hard based on how clear the data is.
  3. 3Start with the easiest set and fully finish it before moving on.
  4. 4If a set is not opening up after 6-7 minutes, leave it and move to the next.
  5. 5Aim for 2 to 3 complete sets rather than touching every set.

Difficulty pattern

  • One set is usually approachable and can be done in 8-10 minutes.
  • One or two sets are moderate and need careful tables.
  • The remaining sets are tough and often not worth the time.

Tip: Two sets done accurately beat three half-done sets.
