ABES Scholarships 2027-28: Government Schemes and PG Stipend
Last updated: October 2026
We'll be upfront, because plenty of sites aren't. We went through ABES's admission pages, fee tables and circulars looking for a merit scholarship. The usual kind, where 90% in Class 12 gets you 25% off. We didn't find one. Not for B.Tech, not for BCA, not for anything. If a website tells you ABES has a merit slab, ask it for the link.
What does exist is still worth having. ABES posts notices every session for the UP government scholarship and for central schemes on the National Scholarship Portal. Postgraduates get two more options: a national scheme for GATE holders, and a small college stipend of ₹7,000 in year one and ₹8,000 in year two for some non-GATE students. And the Mechanical department once had a company pay a full year's tuition for two third-year students.
Most of this is government money, and that changes how you plan. The college doesn't knock it off your bill. You apply yourself, on a portal, under the scheme's own rules. And the money often shows up months after your fee was due. Keep reading before you build a budget around it.
Read This Before You Count on Any Scholarship
Scholarships are probably the most misreported thing about private engineering colleges. ABES is no different. Its reviewed pages don't show any college-wide discount, so anyone quoting a fixed ABES waiver is guessing. Government schemes have income limits and hard deadlines. A notice on the college website just means the window's open. It doesn't mean you've got anything.
Before you pay a single rupee
- Ask admissions, in writing, which schemes apply to your course for 2027-28.
- Find out if any award goes to your bank account or gets adjusted in the fee, and when.
- Postgrad? Ask whether the ₹7,000 and ₹8,000 stipend is still running and if your intake qualifies.
- Never pay anyone who says they'll "arrange" a scholarship. It's free to apply and no middleman can change the result.
Plan as if nothing arrives before the fee deadline. If something does come through, great. Treat it as money back.
How Money Help Actually Works at ABES
Six points. Read these and the tables below will make a lot more sense.
- The main help is government schemes, not college merit slabs.
- The scheme decides who's eligible, based on your category, income, domicile, course and marks. ABES doesn't.
- The college's job is to verify you're enrolled. The government approves and pays.
- Postgrads get two extras: the GATE-linked national scheme and a college stipend for some direct-admission students.
- Company or department awards happen, but they're one-offs for a few students.
- Nothing renews on its own. Most schemes want a fresh renewal form every year.
Merit-Based Scholarships: Programme-Wise Breakdown
Jump straight to your programme:
| Support route | Who it's for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| UP Government Scholarship | Students who fit the UP scheme's category, domicile, income and course rules | ABES posts fresh and renewal notices. Read the scheme rules on the UP portal |
| Central schemes on NSP | Students who fit one of the listed central schemes | Every scheme has its own rules and dates |
| PM-USP Central Sector Scheme | Students meeting its current merit and income conditions | Listed on NSP. Check the live guidelines |
| College merit waiver | Not found | Ask admissions in writing before assuming one |
ABES's own checklist asks scholarship applicants to bring an income certificate or this year's ITR, an EWS certificate if relevant, and a caste certificate if relevant. Sort these before reporting day. Getting them afterwards takes weeks.
No merit slab for B.Tech that we could find. The fee is ₹1,81,200 with a ₹5,000 refundable deposit, and you should plan to pay all of it. Government schemes are your route, and you apply after you've joined.
| Support route | Who it's for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| UP Government Scholarship | BCA students who fit the UP scheme | Make sure BCA is a covered course this year |
| Central schemes on NSP | Students who fit a central scheme | Course coverage changes by scheme |
| College merit waiver | Not found | Ask whether anything exists just for BCA |
| Fee | ₹1,66,200 including ₹5,000 refundable | Check the current sheet |
First thing to confirm: does the scheme even cover BCA? Some cover any degree, some name specific courses. Check before you spend an evening on the form.
BCA costs ₹1,66,200, because tuition is ₹95,000 instead of ₹1,10,000. Everything else matches B.Tech. No separate BCA scholarship shows up, so it's the same government routes.
| Support route | Who it's for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| UP and central schemes | MCA students who fit the scheme | Check that postgraduate courses are covered |
| College PG stipend | Some non-GATE students admitted directly | ₹7,000 in year one, ₹8,000 in year two. Ask if MCA counts |
| Research support | Students publishing papers | The college says it funds publication. Ask your department |
| College merit waiver | Not found | Ask admissions in writing |
The college describes the stipend as being for non-GATE postgraduate students who came in directly. It never says whether MCA is included or only M.Tech. Get that answered on paper.
MCA is on the same ₹1,81,200 table as B.Tech. There's one extra possibility for postgrads here, so read the M.Tech part too if you came in through direct admission.
| Support route | Who it's for | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| AICTE and MHRD PG scholarship | M.Tech students with a valid GATE score | Amount isn't on the ABES page. Check the national rules |
| College stipend, year 1 | Some non-GATE students admitted directly | ₹7,000 |
| College stipend, year 2 | The same students, continuing | ₹8,000. Ask what you need to keep it |
| Research support | M.Tech students publishing original work | Funding for good journals and international conferences |
| Government schemes | Students who fit UP or central rules | Check PG coverage |
Two things the pages don't say. Is the stipend monthly or yearly? And what do you have to do to keep it in year two? Twelve times difference on the first one. Ask.
This is where ABES actually puts money on the table, and your Class 12 marks don't matter here. Got a valid GATE score? You may get the AICTE and MHRD scholarship. No GATE? There's the college stipend for some direct-admission students. With only 18 M.Tech seats, ask about both before you accept.

The Rules That Catch Students Out
Five of them. Each one has cost someone real money.
- A Notice Isn't an Approval When ABES puts up a scholarship notice, it means the application window is open. Nothing more. The scheme decides if you qualify, the portal processes it, and money arrives after verification and sanction. Students see a notice, assume they're covered, and plan their fee around money that never comes.
- Read the scheme's own notification, not just the college circular.
- Check the income limit, category rules, domicile and course coverage.
- Save your application number and acknowledgement. You'll need both to chase it.
If the government money is late, your fee isn't. Ask the accounts office now what happens in that case, and get it written down.
- Nothing Renews by Itself Most schemes have a fresh form and a renewal form, and ABES posts separate notices for each. Renewal usually needs a new application and proof you passed. Miss the renewal window in second year and it just stops, even though you qualified fine in first year. Put the renewal date in your phone the day your first one gets approved.
- Your Documents Have to Match This is the number one reason forms get marked "defective". Name, birth date, category, income, bank account, marks. They all have to match across your certificates, Aadhaar, bank and portal. One spelling difference between your Class 12 certificate and your bank passbook can hold things up for months. Fix it before you apply.
- Two Benefits Don't Always Stack People assume they can hold a state scholarship and a central one, or a government award and the college stipend. Often you can't. Each scheme has its own rules about this. Plan on one, not two, until someone confirms in writing.
- One-Off Awards Aren't Open to Everyone The Mechanical department reported a company paying a full year's tuition for two third-year students. Real award, real money. Also: two students, one department, one year, chosen by the department and the company. It shows these awards happen at ABES. It doesn't mean you should plan your fee around one. Ask your department if anything similar is running.
How to Apply, Step by Step
There's no single ABES scholarship form. Each route works differently, and most run on a government portal, not through the college.
- Pick your route: UP scheme, a central scheme on NSP, the GATE-linked PG scheme, the college stipend, or a department award.
- Read that scheme's current notice: year, course, category, income limit, marks and dates.
- Make your portal account. For central schemes, that means doing the One Time Registration on NSP first.
- Gather documents: marksheets, admission details, income certificate or ITR, category or EWS or domicile certificate if needed, and a bank account in your own name.
- Submit before the deadline. Save the application number and a copy of everything you uploaded.
- Keep checking the status. Answer correction requests fast, and nudge the college if it's waiting on their verification.
For the college stipend or a department award, skip the portal. Go straight to the department or admissions and ask for the rules in writing.
Is a Scholarship at ABES Worth Chasing?
Yes, if you actually fit a scheme. If your family income is under a UP or central limit, applying is free, takes an afternoon, and can cut a real chunk off four years. If you're a GATE holder looking at M.Tech, the national scheme is the biggest money lever ABES has. What you shouldn't do is wait for a merit discount from the college. We didn't find one, and asking a website won't change that. Plan for the full fee. Apply for everything you qualify for. Anything that comes back is a bonus.
- Plan for the full ₹1,81,200 (₹1,66,200 for BCA), plus ₹9,900 for uniform.
- Add hostel on top: ₹1,36,500 to ₹1,77,500 for boys, ₹1,48,000 to ₹1,77,500 for girls.
- Apply for UP and central schemes yourself, the day the portal opens.
- GATE holder eyeing M.Tech? Ask about the AICTE and MHRD scheme before you accept.
- Non-GATE postgrad through direct admission? Ask in writing if the stipend covers you.
- Get every amount and renewal rule on paper before the fee is due.
- Never pay an agent. Ever.
What You'll Actually Pay, With or Without Help
| Cost item | Published figure | Note |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech academic fee | ₹1,81,200 | Includes ₹5,000 refundable |
| BCA academic fee | ₹1,66,200 | Tuition ₹95,000 |
| B.Tech Working Professional | ₹1,19,880 shown | Plus ₹3,100, ₹5,000 and ₹9,600 listed separately |
| Uniform | ₹9,900 | Cash only |
| Boys' hostel | ₹1,36,500 to ₹1,77,500 | Includes refundable security |
| Girls' hostel | ₹1,48,000 to ₹1,77,500 | AC rooms, includes security |
| Pre-enrolment registration (direct) | ₹500 to ₹2,300 | Depends on category and whether you wrote an entrance |
These are the 2026-27 figures, the latest out. Check the 2027-28 sheet before paying.
Documents to Keep Ready for Any Scholarship Form
- Class 10 and 12 marksheets and certificates, plus diploma or degree records if relevant.
- Your admission and enrolment details.
- Income certificate or this year's ITR.
- EWS, caste or disability certificate, if your scheme uses it.
- Domicile certificate, where asked.
- A bank account in your own name, matching your other papers exactly.
- Aadhaar and your portal or One Time Registration number.
- A recent photo, your signature, and any declaration the portal asks for.
- For PG help: degree records, a valid GATE scorecard and admission details.
Which Route Fits You
| Your situation | Look at first | Do this now |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech, family income under a scheme limit | UP and central schemes on NSP | Get the income certificate or ITR ready |
| B.Tech, great marks, no income criterion | Nothing at college level | Ask admissions in writing. Don't assume |
| BCA | Government schemes, if BCA is covered | Check coverage first |
| MCA via direct admission | College stipend plus government schemes | Ask if the stipend covers MCA |
| M.Tech with GATE | AICTE and MHRD scheme | Check national rules |
| M.Tech without GATE, direct | College stipend | Ask about selection and year-two rules |
A Realistic Example
Say you join B.Tech CSE for 2027-28. You pay ₹1,81,200, add ₹9,900 for the uniform, and take an AC four-seater at ₹1,48,000. That's ₹3,39,100 in year one. Your family income qualifies for a central scheme, so you apply on NSP in first semester. The approval comes in second semester, and the money lands in your bank account. Not the college's. So your fee never went down. You just got some of it back, months later. That's how to think about every government scholarship.
What the Pages Don't Tell You
| Open question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Is there any merit waiver at all? | Decides whether great marks save you money here |
| Does the stipend cover MCA or just M.Tech? | 180 seats versus 18 |
| Is the stipend monthly or yearly? | A twelve-times difference |
| What keeps the stipend going into year two? | You could lose it without knowing why |
| Can a government award run alongside the stipend? | One benefit or two |
| How many students get anything each year? | Tells you if it's realistic |
All fair questions for a campus visit. Write down the answer, the date and who told you.
Scholarship Timing and the Fee Deadline
This is where people get into trouble. Government approval takes months, and it has nothing to do with when your fee is due. Students turn up at reporting thinking the scholarship will cover the first instalment, then scramble for a loan. Do it the other way round. Arrange the full fee first. Apply the day the portal opens. If the money comes, it's a refund. If it doesn't, your seat was never in danger. Ask accounts what they do when a sanctioned scholarship is late.
Why There's No Merit Slab, and What That Means
Some colleges advertise discount ladders tied to board marks, partly to pull in applications. ABES doesn't, at least not on the pages we checked. That's not automatically bad. It may just mean everyone pays the same. But it does mean this: if you've got great marks and another college offers you 50% off, compare the fee after that discount, not the sticker price. Run both numbers. Then ask ABES straight out if there's anything the website doesn't show.
A Warning About Scholarship Touts
Every year, someone offers to "arrange" a government scholarship for a fee. It's always a scam. These schemes run on open portals. Applying is free. Nobody, not a consultant, not an agent, not someone claiming to know a college clerk, can change a sanction. Same goes for anyone selling a "college merit waiver" for a cut. Walk away, and tell the college.
Frequently Asked Questions
It posts notices for UP and central government schemes and has some postgraduate support. We didn't find a college-wide merit discount.
Not on the pages we checked. Don't count on one without it in writing.
ABES posts fresh and renewal notices for UP and central schemes each session. Watch the circulars page and the portals.
Depends entirely on the government scheme. The only figure ABES publishes itself is the PG stipend: ₹7,000, then ₹8,000.
Some non-GATE postgraduate students admitted directly, picked by the college. Check if your intake counts.
They may, under the AICTE and MHRD scheme. The amount is set nationally.
The National Scholarship Portal. Do the One Time Registration first.
Usually not. Government money tends to go to your bank account. Ask the college to be sure.
Often not. Check each scheme's rules.
No. Most need a separate renewal form every year.
Marksheets, admission details, income certificate or ITR, category or EWS papers if needed, and a bank account in your name.
Nothing like that on ABES's pages. Some sites list it anyway. Ask admissions.
Not on the pages we checked.
A company paid a full year's tuition for two third-year students. A one-off, not a scheme.
It says it supports publication in good journals and conferences. Ask your department how.
Pay the fee on time anyway. Ask accounts beforehand what they do in that case.
No. It's a scam every time.
Rarely. Budget the hostel separately, from ₹1,36,500.
Which schemes fit my course, is anything college-funded, does the money go to me or the fee, and how does renewal work.
We built this page from the scholarship, fee and circular information on ABES's own website, plus listings on the National Scholarship Portal, as they stood when we checked. Rules and amounts change. Where the college's pages leave a question open, we've said so rather than guessing. Whatever ABES or the government confirms in writing for your course and year is what counts.
