ABES Admission 2027-28: Eligibility, JEE Main, Direct Seats and Fees
There are two doors into ABES, and half the confused calls we get are from families who only knew about one. The big door is JEE Main counselling, which fills about 85 of every 100 B.Tech seats. The small door is the college's own admission, roughly 15 seats in 100, where they look at your 12th marks and JEE score and then sit you down for an interview. People call the small door a "management seat". It still wants your JEE score.
Numbers you'll keep scrolling back for, so here they are once: 1,800 B.Tech seats, 900 of them plain CSE. ₹1,81,200 fee for any branch, ₹5,000 of which comes back to you at the end. 45% in PCM in 12th, or 40% if you're in a reserved category. CUET for BCA, MCA and lateral entry. GATE first for M.Tech.
The page runs in the order things will actually hit you, eligibility first and "what do I confirm before paying" last. ABES's website is vague in a few places. We've pointed those out rather than quietly guessing.
ABES Admission 2027-28: What to Expect
UPTAC hasn't announced anything for 2027-28 yet, and won't for a while. But the way ABES fills seats has looked pretty much the same for the last few years, so here's what you can count on.
- The bulk of B.Tech seats, about 85%, still come through JEE Main counselling. The college keeps up to 15% for its own admission.
- Six branches and 1,800 seats. CSE takes 900 of those on its own, and Mechanical, at the other end, has just 60.
- If you're not coming for first-year B.Tech, your exam is probably CUET. UG for lateral entry and BCA, PG for MCA. M.Tech is the odd one out and looks at GATE before anything else.
- The fee hasn't changed shape: ₹1,81,200 for B.Tech, lateral entry, M.Tech and MCA, ₹1,66,200 for BCA. Remember that ₹5,000 inside each comes back to you.
- Hostel rooms cost anywhere from ₹1,36,500 to ₹1,77,500, and they're handed out to whoever applies first. We'll keep repeating that, because people keep missing it.
- The college went autonomous in 2025. Worth asking at reporting which academic rules your batch falls under.
A brochure from 2024 sitting in your cousin's drawer is not a source. Neither is a random "admission 2027" page. Dates only count when they're on the UPTAC portal or ABES's own circulars page, and they move between rounds.

The Two Routes into ABES
Before anything else, work out which route you're likely on. It changes almost every step after this.
If you're on the counselling route, the sequence goes JEE Main, UPTAC registration, choice filling, allotment, seat fee, and finally reporting at the college.
The direct route is shorter but less predictable: you fill the college form, wait to see if you're shortlisted, go for the interview, and hope for an offer.
Either way you end up at the same desk on campus, with your documents being checked and the fee being paid.
Lateral entry, BCA, MCA and M.Tech each have their own exam and their own little process, so don't copy the B.Tech steps for those.
Working Professional is a whole separate thing with its own notice. Read that, not this.
The 85-15 split is how ABES describes B.Tech admission. We wouldn't assume it carries over to every other course.
Which Exam for Which Course
Four exam routes for six kinds of courses. It sounds simple until someone applies for MCA with a CUET (UG) score, which happens more than you'd think.
| Route | What it is | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| JEE Main | National engineering exam; rank drives counselling | B.Tech, 85% of seats |
| College direct admission | Online form, shortlist on Class 12 and JEE, interview | B.Tech, up to 15% |
| CUET (UG) | Undergraduate entrance test | Lateral entry and BCA |
| CUET (PG) | Postgraduate entrance test | MCA |
| GATE | Engineering grad test, first preference | M.Tech CSE and ECE |
| College merit | Used after GATE and CUET (PG) if notified | M.Tech |
| Programme process | Own rules, work experience needed | Working Professional |
How to Apply to ABES
Start on abes.ac.in, on the courses page, because each course has its own eligibility, exam and fee tab and they're not all the same. If you're on the counselling route, most of your life for a few weeks will be the UPTAC website: register the day it opens, type marks and JEE details exactly as your certificates have them, upload what it asks, and then keep refreshing for merit lists and allotment. On the direct route, only use the form linked from the college's own website (there are copycat forms floating around every year). Notices come by SMS and email and some windows are two or three days long, so this is not the month to ignore your phone. Once you've got a seat, pay only through the college's channel. And keep every receipt in one folder. Boring advice, but the student with the folder sorts a problem in one visit.
Registration: Get It Right First Time
Most of the admission problems we hear about later go back to something small typed wrong in a form that can't be edited.
- Before you register anywhere, open the official courses page and check your exact course: its eligibility, its seats, its fee.
- UPTAC registration opens on a set day. Do it that day, and write the login somewhere that isn't a sticky note on your desk.
- Your name, date of birth, category and marks have to match your certificates letter for letter. We've seen a missing middle initial hold up a verification for two days.
- Upload photos, marksheets and the scorecard in whatever size and format the portal wants. Keep the originals safe, you'll need them at reporting.
- On the direct route, the college has its own form. Pick the right mode, course and branch carefully, because changing it later isn't always possible.
- Save the printout and the registration number in two places, and then actually check the portal every few days. Quiet weeks are when people miss things.
Documents to Keep Ready
Gather these before your allotment shows up. Some reporting windows are only three or four days, which is not enough time to get a fresh caste certificate made.
- Class 10 marksheet and pass certificate, plus however many self-attested copies the notice asks for. The number is usually in small print near the bottom.
- Class 12 marksheet and pass certificate.
- Your JEE Main scorecard, the UPTAC allotment letter, and the receipt for the seat fee you paid.
- If you're coming in through lateral entry, your diploma marksheets for every year and the diploma itself.
- For MCA or M.Tech, all your graduation marksheets and the degree or provisional certificate.
- Your GATE or CUET scorecard, if that's the route you came through.
- A character certificate. UP Board and UP Technical Board students will also need a transfer certificate.
- A migration certificate, if you studied under a different board or university.
- If you're claiming a reserved seat, your category, domicile or income certificate. If you're planning to apply for a government scholarship later, an income certificate or ITR and an EWS or caste certificate, so you're not running around in October.
- Photo ID, a few passport-size photos, and proof that you've paid the fee.
- For the Working Professional route, letters from your employer or something else that proves your experience.
- If your result hasn't come out yet, an undertaking, assuming the college accepts one that year.
Selection and the Direct-Admission Interview
No interview on the counselling route. Your rank, your choice order, your category and whatever seats are left settle it. The direct route does have one, and most students prepare for the wrong thing. It isn't a viva. Your marks and JEE score were checked before you were even called. What the panel is really asking is simpler: do you know why you picked this branch, can you talk for two minutes in English without freezing, and do you look like someone who'll finish four years. Think about three honest answers before you go in. Why engineering. Why this branch and not another. Anything you've built or read outside the syllabus, even a small thing. Don't fake a passion for robotics if you've never touched an Arduino. They can tell, usually within a minute.
Locking In Your ABES Seat
Got the seat? Good. Now the reporting window starts, and it's short. Read the letter for date, time and venue. Arrange the fee, which is ₹1,81,200 for most courses minus whatever you paid in counselling, plus ₹9,900 in cash for the uniform (yes, cash, even though the main fee can't be). Bring originals and the exact number of photocopy sets the notice says. "Around five" annoys the desk. If you want a hostel room, apply that same day, because rooms go first come, first served and the cheap ones are gone by evening. Last thing, and parents forget this one: before paying, ask accounts to write down your total, including anything listed separately. It saves a very awkward conversation in week three.
ABES Admission by Programme
Each course has its own rules. Find yours.
B.Tech Admission (All Six Branches)
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech CSE | Class 12 with Physics, Maths and an allowed third subject; 45%, or 40% reserved | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
| B.Tech CSE (AI and ML) | Same | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
| B.Tech CSE (Data Science) | Same | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
| B.Tech ECE | Same | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
| B.Tech Electrical and Computer | Same | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
| B.Tech Mechanical | Same | JEE Main via UPTAC, or direct |
CSE has 900 seats, which is half the intake, and it's where most recruiters focus.
AI-ML has 360 seats and Data Science 180. For the first two years they're very close to plain CSE.
ECE has 180 seats and is one of only three branches with NBA.
Electrical and Computer has 120 seats. Mechanical has 60, the smallest batch in the college.
- The third subject in Class 12 is where students get caught. The UPTAC brochure lists which ones are allowed, so check before you assume.
- Which branch you actually land in depends on your rank, the order of your choices, your category and what's left by that round.
- 45% makes you eligible. It does not hold a seat for you, and nobody at the college can promise one on that basis.
B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| Lateral entry, diploma | Engineering diploma, 45% (40% SC/ST) | CUET (UG), separate counselling |
| Lateral entry, B.Sc. | B.Sc. with 45% (40% SC/ST) and Maths in Class 12 | After diploma holders, if seats remain |
The usual route is a diploma in engineering with 45%, or 40% for SC and ST students.
A B.Sc. with 45% and Maths in Class 12 also counts, but you'll be considered only after diploma holders are seated.
A few diploma fields aren't accepted at all. The notice names them.
Your branch depends on which seats are still vacant after the first-year rounds, so your first choice may not be available.
- First-year JEE closing ranks have nothing to do with lateral entry, so don't use them to guess your chances.
- The college shows the same ₹1,81,200 table for lateral entry. Since you're joining in second year, it's fair to ask which charges are one-time and whether they still apply to you.
- Double-check that your particular diploma branch is accepted for the B.Tech branch you're hoping for.
BCA Admission
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| BCA | Class 12, as per the BCA notice | CUET (UG) |
There are 120 seats, filled through CUET (UG).
The fee is ₹1,66,200, and that includes a ₹5,000 deposit you get back.
The course page doesn't really say how many years BCA runs.
We couldn't find any BCA placement numbers on the site.
- Go by the BCA notice for eligibility. The B.Tech rules don't apply here.
- Find out the duration first, otherwise you can't work out what the whole course will cost.
- BCA students pay the same ₹36,000 career planning fee as B.Tech students. It's a fair question whether they get the same training for it.
MCA Admission
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| MCA | BCA, B.Sc. CS or IT, B.Tech CSE or IT, or any degree with Maths in Class 12 or college; 50%, 45% SC/ST | CUET (PG) |
180 seats, through CUET (PG).
The fee is ₹1,81,200, the same table as B.Tech.
In 2025 the department placed 140 students with 113 companies visiting, which works out to 77.78%.
There's a ₹7,000 and ₹8,000 stipend for some direct-admission postgrads. Nobody says clearly whether MCA students count.
- Graduates from commerce or arts often trip on the Maths rule. Check that Maths was in your 12th or your degree before you pay for CUET.
- Bring every year's graduation marksheet, along with the degree or provisional certificate.
- PG counselling doesn't follow the B.Tech calendar, so keep a separate eye on it.
M.Tech Admission (CSE and ECE)
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| M.Tech CSE | Relevant bachelor's, 50% (45% reserved) | GATE, then CUET (PG), then college merit |
| M.Tech ECE | Relevant bachelor's, 50% (45% reserved) | GATE, then CUET (PG), then college merit |
Twelve seats in CSE, six in ECE.
Fee is ₹1,81,200, the same table again.
GATE holders are considered first. After that, CUET (PG), and then the college's own merit list.
There's both a GATE-linked scholarship and a college stipend for some non-GATE students.
- With only 18 seats, a single round can fill the whole programme. Find out early which route your branch is using that year.
- If you have GATE, get the scholarship amount in writing before you pay anything.
- If you don't, ask whether the stipend applies to you, and whether ₹7,000 means per month or per year. That's a twelve-times difference.
B.Tech Working Professional Admission
| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| Working Professional (CSE) | Own rules, with work experience | Programme-specific |
| Working Professional (ECE) | Own rules, with work experience | Programme-specific |
Thirty seats in CSE and thirty in ECE.
₹1,19,880 on the table, plus three more charges listed separately underneath.
You can pay it as ₹9,990 a month over twelve months.
You'll need some proof that you're employed.
- The regular B.Tech rules don't automatically apply, and neither does the regular timetable.
- It's not stated whether you must be currently employed or just have past experience, so ask.
- Because some charges are listed separately, ask for one final figure in writing.
Fee Help at ABES
We hunted through ABES's admission and fee pages for a merit scholarship. The usual sort, 90% in 12th and you get 25% off. Didn't find one. So budget for the full fee. What does exist is government scholarships you apply for yourself, and some real support if you're doing a postgrad course.
Government Scholarship Routes
You file these yourself on a government portal. ABES confirms you're enrolled. The government decides and pays.
| Route | Who runs it | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| UP Government Scholarship | UP government | Category, domicile, income, course, marks |
| Central schemes | Government of India, via NSP | Merit, category or income, by scheme |
| PM-USP Central Sector Scheme | Government of India, via NSP | Merit and income rules on the live guidelines |
Postgraduate and College Support
This is where ABES has something of its own, mostly for postgrads.
| Category | Who | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| AICTE and MHRD PG scheme | Valid GATE plus PG admission | Set nationally |
| College PG stipend, year 1 | Some non-GATE direct PG students | ₹7,000 |
| College PG stipend, year 2 | Same students | ₹8,000 |
| Research support | Students publishing papers | Publication costs. Ask your department |
| Company award | Picked by department and donor | Once: full year's tuition for two Mechanical students |
How to Actually Pay Less
- If you've already paid ₹20,000 or ₹12,000 in counselling, that comes off the college fee. Bring the receipt, because without it the desk won't adjust it.
- A non-AC four-sharing room at ₹1,36,500 is ₹41,000 cheaper than an AC double. Those rooms go first, though, so apply the day your seat is confirmed.
- Staying at home saves the whole hostel fee. Just work out how you'll get there, since ABES doesn't publish any bus routes.
- Government scholarship forms cost nothing to fill. Apply for every scheme you're eligible for as soon as the portal opens.
- For M.Tech students with a GATE score, the national scheme is easily the biggest saving on offer.
Where the 1,800 B.Tech Seats Sit
| Branch | Seats | NBA |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Science and Engineering | 900 | Till December 2028 |
| CSE (AI and ML) | 360 | No |
| CSE (Data Science) | 180 | No |
| Electronics and Communication | 180 | Till June 2028 |
| Electrical and Computer Engineering | 120 | No |
| Mechanical | 60 | Till June 2028 |
Every Programme and Its Seats
| Programme | Seats | Route |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech, six branches | 1,800 | JEE Main counselling and direct |
| Working Professional, CSE | 30 | Own process |
| Working Professional, ECE | 30 | Own process |
| BCA | 120 | CUET (UG) |
| MCA | 180 | CUET (PG) |
| M.Tech CSE | 12 | GATE, CUET (PG), college merit |
| M.Tech ECE | 6 | GATE, CUET (PG), college merit |
Which Route Fits You
| Your situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Good JEE rank, want CSE | Counselling. CSE first, then AI-ML and Data Science |
| Middling JEE rank | Counselling, with ECE and Electrical and Computer as realistic picks |
| Low JEE rank | Try direct admission, knowing your JEE score still counts |
| Diploma holder | Lateral entry into second year |
| B.Sc. graduate wanting B.Tech | Lateral entry, but after diploma holders |
| Any graduate with Maths | MCA, 180 seats and the best department placement data |
| Engineering grad with GATE | M.Tech, and ask about the scholarship first |
| Working, want a degree | Working Professional, with monthly payments |
A Realistic Admission Timeline
Nobody knows the exact 2027-28 dates yet, and anyone who says they do is guessing. The sequence is predictable though. JEE Main early in the year, results a few weeks later, then UPTAC registration. Choice filling and round one land somewhere mid-year, more rounds after, and reporting comes days after each allotment. Which means the smart move is boring: photocopy and file your documents in the gap after boards, not the night before reporting.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| Before JEE | Shortlist branches, check eligibility and subjects, sort documents |
| After JEE result | Register on UPTAC, and try direct admission too if you like |
| Before choice filling | Pull two years of UPTAC closing ranks and order choices honestly |
| After allotment | Read the letter, arrange the fee, apply for hostel that day |
| Before reporting | Originals, exact number of copies, ₹9,900 cash for uniform |
| After joining | Registration, portal login, read the academic rules, apply for scholarships |
Of everything in that table, the hostel application is the one where being a day late really does cost you money.
Questions to Ask on a Campus Visit
A campus visit tells you more than a week of YouTube reviews, as long as you skip the official tour. Walk to your department. Look at the labs your branch actually uses, and count the machines against the batch size. Ask the department, not the admission desk, for its placement numbers for the last two batches. Pop into the hostel office and find out which rooms are left. And if you can catch a second-year student from your branch for five minutes with no faculty around, do it. You'll learn more in those five minutes than from this whole page.
| Who | What to ask |
|---|---|
| Department | Which labs do we use each year, and how many per setup? |
| Department | Placement data for the last two batches, eligible and placed separately |
| Placement cell | Which companies hired from my branch in the last two years? |
| Placement cell | What does the ₹36,000 career fee actually get me? |
| Accounts | Is ₹1,81,200 yearly? What's year two? |
| Hostel office | What rooms are left, and what are the rules? |
| Admissions | Which scholarships fit my course? In writing |
| Current students | What do you wish you'd known? |
Write the answers down, along with the date and the name of whoever told you. If there's a dispute later, that note helps.
Common Admission Mistakes
We see these every single year. All avoidable.
- Going by last year's fee, rules or dates without checking whether they've changed.
- Filling choices as though all six branches are equally easy to get.
- Treating direct admission as a sure thing.
- Typing details that don't exactly match the certificates.
- Missing a counselling round, a reporting date or a verification slot.
- Paying through a link someone forwarded on WhatsApp, or into a personal account.
- Seeing a scholarship notice on the website and assuming that means you've got it.
- Expecting ₹45 LPA to be normal, when the median is ₹4.50 LPA.
- Leaving the hostel application till later and getting stuck with the most expensive rooms.
What Autonomy Means for Your Batch
ABES became autonomous in 2025. For getting in, it changes almost nothing, since most seats still go through state counselling on JEE rank. It matters after you join. Autonomous colleges set their own syllabus, write their own papers and make their own rules about attendance, backlogs and grading, while the degree still comes from the university. Could be good, because courses can be updated faster. Could be annoying, because the rules are the college's own. Grab the academic regulations at reporting and read them in week one. Almost nobody does until they're short on attendance.
Why Students Shortlist ABES
Credit where it's due, there are real reasons ABES makes so many shortlists. On paper it beats most private colleges in Ghaziabad: a NIRF band in 2024, NAAC Grade A, NBA on three branches till 2028. The placement cell works, close to 500 companies come, and the college actually publishes its offer bands. There's a pool, a floodlit stadium and a decent library. ₹1,81,200 is fair for NCR. The other side: a ₹4.50 LPA median, no NBA on half the branches, and no merit discount at all. Weigh both. Don't let either list decide alone.
Before You Accept the Seat
| Check | Why |
|---|---|
| Does my branch have NBA? | Only CSE, ECE and Mechanical do |
| What's my branch's median? | College median is ₹4.50 LPA; ECE's top offer was ₹7.65 LPA |
| Is ₹1,81,200 yearly? | You need it for the four-year total |
| Is my hostel room type free? | First come, first served |
| What refund would I actually get? | Ask for a number |
| Is there a bus on my route? | Nothing's published |
| Which academic rules apply? | The college is autonomous now |
