AKGEC Cutoff 2026: B.Tech Closing Ranks and Eligibility
AKGEC Cutoff 2026 at a Glance
There's no single "AKGEC cutoff", even though everyone asks for one. For B.Tech, what really matters is the closing rank UPTAC publishes, and there's a separate one for each branch, category, quota and round. CSE and Civil can close far apart in the very same round. When we checked, AKGEC hadn't released a final 2026-27 closing-rank list, so UPTAC's 2025 opening and closing ranks are what you should go by. Eligibility is different and doesn't move: 45% in Class 12 for B.Tech, 50% in graduation for MCA, 60% in B.Tech for M.Tech.
Minimum Marks for Every Course
| Course | Minimum Marks | Subject Rule | How Selection Works |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.Tech (all 9 branches) | 45% (40% SC/ST) | Physics and Maths plus Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or a vocational subject | JEE Main rank through UPTAC |
| B.Tech lateral entry | 45% in diploma (40% SC/ST) | Engineering diploma, or B.Sc. with Maths in Class 12 | UPTAC lateral-entry counselling |
| MCA | 50% in graduation (45% SC/ST) | Maths at Class 12 or graduation | UPTAC or college registration |
| M.Tech | 60% in B.Tech or B.E. | Related branch; MCA for M.Tech CSE | College registration |

What Cutoff Means at AKGEC
People mean two different things when they say "cutoff". Mixing them up leads to bad choice filling.
Eligibility vs Closing Rank
Eligibility is the fixed rule you need to meet just to apply, for example 45% in Class 12 with Physics and Maths. The closing rank is something else. It's the last JEE Main rank that got a seat in a given branch, category, quota and round, and it shifts every year depending on how many people apply and what they choose. Put simply, eligibility gets you into the line. Your rank decides where you stand in it, and that's what gets you the seat.
Opening and Closing Rank
For every row, UPTAC gives two numbers. The opening rank is the best rank that got in, and the closing rank is the last one. If last year your rank would have sat between those two for your branch and category, you'd have made it that year. Good sign. Not a guarantee.
AKGEC B.Tech Cutoff 2026
B.Tech seats are given by UPTAC on JEE Main rank. Since all nine branches charge the same fee (₹4,98,124 for four years), the only real difference between them in counselling is how many people want them. CSE has the most seats, and it still fills up first. That tells you how many students go for it.
B.Tech Branches and Seats
| Branch | Seats | Route | Fee (4 Years) |
|---|---|---|---|
| CSE | 450 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| CSE (AI and ML) | 180 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| CSE (Data Science) | 120 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| Computer Science (Hindi) | 60 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| Information Technology | 180 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| ECE | 180 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| Mechanical | 60 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| Electrical and Electronics | 60 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
| Civil | 30 | JEE Main / UPTAC | ₹4,98,124 |
How to Find Last Year's AKGEC Closing Rank
Go to uptac.admissions.nic.in and open the "B.Tech Opening and Closing Ranks 2025" page. Download the document and search for Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College. Find the row that matches your branch, category, quota (home state or all India) and round, and write down both ranks. Then do the same with the 2024 document, so you can see if the rank went up or down. Two years of data will tell you a lot more than one.
A Better Rank Also Cuts Your Fee
The scholarship uses the same JEE Main All India Rank. So if your AIR is 25,000 or better, you get a tuition discount along with the seat.
| JEE Main AIR | Scholarship on Tuition |
|---|---|
| 1 to 10,000 | 100% |
| 10,001 to 15,000 | 75% |
| 15,001 to 20,000 | 50% |
| 20,001 to 25,000 | 25% |
| Above 25,000 | None |
AKGEC MCA and M.Tech Cutoff 2026
MCA and M.Tech don't work like B.Tech. MCA has 120 seats, and you need 50% in a three-year degree where you studied Maths. M.Tech has 51 seats across four specialisations, and needs 60% in a related B.Tech or B.E. Don't compare these with B.Tech closing ranks. UPTAC puts out separate documents for PG courses.
PG Selection
| Programme | Seats | Minimum | Route |
|---|---|---|---|
| MCA | 120 | 50% in graduation with Maths (45% SC/ST) | UPTAC / college registration |
| M.Tech CSE | 18 | 60% in B.Tech/B.E. or MCA | College registration |
| M.Tech ECE | 12 | 60% in B.Tech/B.E. | College registration |
| M.Tech EEE | 12 | 60% in B.Tech/B.E. | College registration |
| M.Tech Mechanical | 9 | 60% in B.Tech/B.E. | College registration |
PG Scholarship Link
MCA: a CUET PG All India Rank of 750 or better gets you 25% to 100% off tuition. M.Tech: 65% in B.Tech starts you at 25%, and 80% covers all of it. AKGEC graduates need 5% less in each slab, which means an alumnus with 60% already gets 25% off.
AKGEC Lateral Entry Cutoff 2026
Lateral entry is for diploma holders who want to start B.Tech from the second year. It has its own UPTAC counselling, its own eligibility and its own rank lists. First-year JEE closing ranks have nothing to do with it.
Lateral Entry Eligibility
| Route | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering diploma | 45% (40% SC/ST) | 3-year diploma from a board recognised by BTE UP |
| B.Sc. route | As per UPTAC rules | Maths in Class 12 needed; considered after diploma holders if seats remain |
Lateral Entry Fee by Branch Group
| Branch Group | Three-Year Fee |
|---|---|
| Electrical and Electronics | ₹3,75,768 |
| CSE group (CSE, CSE-AIML, CSE-DS) | ₹3,76,068 |
| CSE (Hindi) / AIML group | ₹3,76,668 |
| ECE | ₹3,77,268 |
| IT / CSIT | ₹3,77,568 |
| Civil | ₹3,77,868 |
What Can Affect Your Chances
A few things push AKGEC's closing ranks up or down each year.
Factors That Matter
| Label | Text |
|---|---|
| Branch demand | CSE and its specialisations attract the most applicants, so they close at tighter ranks than core branches. |
| Category and quota | Each category and quota has its own closing rank. Compare only matching rows. |
| Counselling round | Ranks shift between the main rounds and special or vacancy rounds. |
| Your choice order | UPTAC allots the highest choice available at your rank, so the order you fill matters. |
| Seat count | A 450-seat branch absorbs more students than a 30-seat branch. |
| Applicant pool | The number of JEE takers and their choices change every year. |
How to Fill Your UPTAC Choices for AKGEC
Put the branches you really want at the top, in the order you'd pick them. Don't leave out a branch you'd be happy with just because you think your rank won't reach it. UPTAC gives you the highest choice it can at your rank, so putting your dream branch first costs you nothing. After that, add the safer options. If CSE is your top pick, IT and the CSE specialisations make sense next, since most software companies hire from them too. Add ECE if electronics interests you. Before you lock your list, compare it with last year's closing ranks for your category.
Reading Your Rank Against Last Year
| Where Your Rank Sits | What It Suggests | What to Do |
|---|---|---|
| Well inside last year's closing rank | Good chance in that branch | Keep it high in your list; still add a backup |
| Close to the closing rank | It could go either way | Add two or three nearby branches below it |
| Beyond the closing rank | Unlikely in the main rounds | Look at other branches; watch special rounds |
| No data for your category | Can't judge from last year | Check the 2024 document too, or ask the college |
