AKGEC Admission 2027-28: Eligibility, UPTAC Process and Documents
AKGEC in Ghaziabad is taking students for 2026-27 in B.Tech, lateral entry B.Tech, MCA and M.Tech. Because it's an AKTU college, you can't just walk in and apply for B.Tech. Seats are given out through UPTAC, Uttar Pradesh's counselling for AKTU colleges, on the basis of your JEE Main rank. In the UPTAC choice list, look for college code 027.
The minimum for B.Tech is Class 12 with Physics and Maths, plus one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology or a technical vocational subject. You need 45% across those (40% if you're SC/ST). But think of that as just getting your name on the list. Which seat you actually get comes down to your rank, your category, the branches you pick and which round it is.
Below, we've covered each route in, what to carry on reporting day, what the first fee payment looks like, how the rank scholarship works and a few mistakes we've seen students make.
AKGEC Admission 2026-27: Latest Update
AKGEC has put up its UPTAC 2026-27 reporting page and the fee sheet for new students.
- B.Tech: UPTAC counselling, by JEE Main rank. Leftover seats are filled by the college, and JEE-qualified students get first chance at those.
- Lateral entry: UPTAC runs a separate counselling for diploma holders and some B.Sc. graduates.
- MCA: there's a registration link on AKGEC's admission page. Your CUET PG rank decides any scholarship.
- M.Tech: register with the college. You'll need at least 60% in B.Tech or B.E.
- Year-one fees: B.Tech ₹1,42,156, MCA ₹1,35,956, M.Tech ₹1,19,256.
- Boys' hostel rooms are limited. A committee decides who gets them.
UPTAC fixes the counselling dates, not AKGEC. After every round, check the portal and your email.

How AKGEC Admission Works
It depends on what you're applying for.
UPTAC counselling. This is how almost every B.Tech student gets in. You register, fill choices and wait. UPTAC allots seats round by round, going by JEE Main rank.
Lateral entry counselling. A separate UPTAC process for diploma holders who join in the second year.
College-level seats. If seats are still empty after counselling, AKGEC fills them under state rules. JEE-qualified students first, then merit in the qualifying exam.
Direct registration. For MCA and M.Tech, the forms are on the AKGEC website.
Reporting. Once you freeze an AKGEC seat, you have to go to the campus in person with your originals for verification.
Meeting the eligibility only gets you into the race. CSE has 450 seats and still fills first. If your rank is borderline, have backup branches in your list.
Entrance Exams Accepted at AKGEC
Which exam or score matters for which course.
| Route | What It Means | Used For |
|---|---|---|
| JEE Main | National engineering exam; your All India Rank drives UPTAC allotment and the merit scholarship | B.Tech first year |
| UPTAC lateral-entry rank | State counselling for diploma and B.Sc. candidates | B.Tech lateral entry |
| CUET PG | National PG entrance; AKGEC uses the rank for MCA scholarships | MCA |
| B.Tech or B.E. aggregate | Your marks in the qualifying degree | M.Tech admission and scholarship |
| Qualifying exam merit | Class 12 or degree marks | College-level vacant seats after JEE candidates |
AKGEC Application Process 2027-28
For B.Tech, think of it in three steps. Step one, register on UPTAC and fill in your choices. Step two, UPTAC allots seats over a few rounds, and after each one you decide to freeze or float. Step three, if you've frozen AKGEC, you go to the Ghaziabad campus, get your documents checked and pay what's left of the fee. MCA and M.Tech students register on the college's admission portal and follow the notice for their course.
Step 1: Registering for UPTAC or the AKGEC Portal
Be careful here. A wrong detail at registration is a pain to fix later.
- Make a list of AKGEC branches you'd genuinely be OK with, CSE down to Civil, and rank them honestly.
- Register on UPTAC with a phone number and email you won't change.
- Type in your Class 10, Class 12 and JEE Main details exactly as printed on the documents.
- Add AKGEC (027) branches to your choices in the order you'd really pick them.
- MCA or M.Tech? Fill the form on admissions.akgec.ac.in and save the acknowledgement.
Documents Required for AKGEC Admission
Carry the originals and a set of photocopies. AKGEC suggests keeping the originals with you through the first semester, so don't leave them at home.
- UPTAC allotment letter and seat acceptance fee receipt
- JEE Main scorecard showing your rank
- Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
- Class 12 mark sheet and certificate
- Diploma or B.Sc. mark sheets (lateral entry)
- Graduation mark sheets and degree or provisional certificate (MCA and M.Tech)
- Transfer or migration certificate, if your board asks for one
- Character certificate
- Category, domicile or income certificate, if you claim a reserved seat
- Government photo ID and recent passport-size photographs
- Medical fitness certificate
- Student and parent anti-ragging undertakings
- Hostel form and local guardian details, if you want a room
Step 2: Counselling Rounds and Seat Allotment
B.Tech has no interview. UPTAC runs rounds and puts out the allotment after each. If AKGEC shows up, you either freeze it (take it and leave counselling) or float it (hold it while waiting for something higher on your list). To get a feel for your chances, compare your rank with UPTAC's published opening and closing ranks for the same branch, category and round. For MCA and M.Tech, the course notice explains selection.
Step 3: Reporting and Confirming Your Seat
Report on the date printed in your allotment letter. The college checks your papers and hands you a stack of forms: admission, MIS, ID card, fee and attendance. You and one parent sign anti-ragging undertakings. Your counselling payment is adjusted, and you pay the rest of the first-year fee by DD, pay order, NEFT or RTGS. Need a hostel or a bus pass? Apply for both the same day.

Three years cost between ₹3,75,768 and ₹3,77,868, depending on the branch group.
- First-year JEE closing ranks tell you nothing about lateral entry. Ignore them.
- Check which branches accept your diploma stream.

| Programme | Eligibility | Selection |
|---|---|---|
| MCA (120 seats) | 3-year degree with Maths; 50% (45% SC/ST) | UPTAC or college registration |

What You Pay in the First Year
After you freeze the seat, plan for three things in year one: the college fee, AKTU's charges and the hostel if you need one. Here's what that adds up to.
| Course | First-Year Fee | With Triple Hostel | With Double Hostel (Boys) |
|---|---|---|---|
| B.Tech | ₹1,42,156 | ₹2,82,156 | ₹2,92,156 |
| B.Tech (fee-waiver seat) | ₹41,014 | ₹1,81,014 | ₹1,91,014 |
| MCA | ₹1,35,956 | ₹2,75,956 | ₹2,85,956 |
| M.Tech | ₹1,19,256 | Ask the college | Ask the college |
AKTU's exam fee (₹7,500, or ₹10,000 for M.Tech) and its ₹1,000 library fee are extra. Your counselling payment comes off the first-year amount.
What Happens After You Join
Training for placements (aptitude, technical, soft skills) starts well before final-year drives. In 2025, 225 companies came to campus and the college counted 1,096 offers. The top one was ₹30 LPA. Most students who got placed that year, though, were under ₹10 LPA.
| Package Band (2025) | Students |
|---|---|
| Below ₹5 LPA | 520 |
| ₹5 to 10 LPA | 472 |
| ₹10 to 20 LPA | 24 |
| Above ₹20 LPA | 6 |
Mistakes to Avoid
- Thinking 45% means you've got a seat.
- Putting only CSE in your list when your rank is close to last year's cutoff.
- Comparing your rank with a closing rank from a different category or round.
- Filling marks on UPTAC that don't match your marksheet.
- Showing up on reporting day without originals or the anti-ragging forms.
- Assuming a seat comes with a hostel room.
- Paying an agent who promises a seat or a scholarship.
Common Admission Myths
| Myth | Fact |
|---|---|
| AKGEC has one cutoff for all branches. | Each branch, category and round closes at its own rank. |
| Last year's closing rank guarantees a seat. | It's only a reference; ranks shift every year. |
| You can buy a scholarship through an agent. | Scholarships depend only on rank or marks. The college warns against touts. |
| Every admitted student gets a hostel. | Boys' hostel seats are limited and allotted by a committee. |
| Fee-waiver seats can be requested at the college. | They come only through UPTAC allotment. |
Freeze or Float: Which Should You Pick?
Each time UPTAC allots you a seat, you've got a decision to make. Get this one wrong and you could lose AKGEC, or get stuck with it. Read this before round one.
| Option | What Happens | Pick It When |
|---|---|---|
| Freeze | You accept this seat and drop out of later rounds | AKGEC and this branch are your first real choice |
| Float | You keep this seat but stay in line for a higher choice in later rounds | You want a better college or branch but don't want to lose this one |
| Not accepting | You give up the seat | You're sure you won't join; you may lose the chance at this seat |
Float and get upgraded, and your earlier seat is let go. The exact options can change, so check the latest UPTAC brochure.
Reporting Day at AKGEC: What to Expect
Expect reporting day to take hours. Get there early with everything in a folder. There's document checking, form filling, undertakings and fee payment. Bring a parent if you can, because one of the anti-ragging forms needs a parent's signature.
- Originals of everything, plus two photocopy sets.
- A few recent passport-size photos.
- The admission, MIS, ID card, fee and attendance forms. Fill them at home if the college has put them online.
- Anti-ragging undertakings, signed by you and a parent.
- Receipt for the seat acceptance fee you paid UPTAC.
- A bank transfer receipt or DD for the remaining fee.
- Hostel form and local guardian details, if you want a room.
Admission on Vacant Seats
UPTAC's main rounds don't fill every seat. AKGEC has a published process for filling the empty ones at college level, following state rules. JEE-qualified students get first preference. After them, it goes by merit in the qualifying exam. Missed out in counselling? Keep an eye on the AKGEC site and UPTAC for vacancy notices, have your documents ready and apply the same day. These seats don't stay open long.
Planning for Outstation Students
Coming from outside Delhi NCR? Sort out where you'll stay before reporting day. Hostel rooms are limited, more so for boys, and the Hostel Allotment Committee decides. Apply on day one. If you don't get a room, you'll be looking at a PG or flat near the campus or on a college bus route, so pick up the route list while you're there. For the first year, budget about ₹2,82,156 with a triple room, more for a double, plus AKTU fees and your own expenses.
