LIET Scholarships 2026-27: Up to 100% Merit Waiver, Girls, Defence, Sports and Bright Student Scholarship
Last updated: October 2026
A LIET scholarship can wipe out your whole first-year B.Tech tuition. According to the college's scholarship page, students with 90% or more in Class 12 PCM get a 100% waiver, 80 to 89% gets 50%, 75 to 79% gets 25%, 70 to 74% gets 15%, and 65 to 69% gets 10%. Girls receive an extra 5% on top of merit, children of defence personnel get 10%, and sports players get 5% to 25%.
Category concessions are added on the admission page: 30% for SC/ST students, 15% for residents of Jammu and Kashmir and 20% for residents of the North East. Education portals also describe a Bright Student Scholarship with fixed amounts: ₹30,000 for B.Tech students with 90%+ PCM, ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 for BCA and ₹15,000 to ₹35,000 for MCA, along with a laptop for B.Tech, BCA and MCA students.
Holding on to your scholarship isn't automatic. Every year, you need 58% marks with no back papers, 80% attendance, good conduct and fees paid on time. Below is every LIET scholarship, who qualifies and how to claim it.
Important: LIET Merit Waiver Covers First-Year Tuition Only
LIET's scholarship page says the merit table covers the first-year B.Tech tuition fee only. Hostel, mess, transport and exam charges aren't included, and later years depend on renewal.
What this means for you
- First year only: the merit waiver is on first-year tuition.
- Renewal rules: 58% marks, no back papers, 80% attendance, good conduct, fees on time.
- Revisions: scholarships tied to national entrance tests can be revised after results.
- Get it in writing: confirm the amount and the fee head it covers before you pay.
Scholarship terms can change with every intake. Your offer letter and written confirmation are final.

How to Apply for a LIET Scholarship
Most LIET scholarships are decided at admission.
- Check the scholarship page on the LIET website for your programme and intake.
- Ask whether it is automatic at admission or needs a separate online form.
- Keep your Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets (with PCM marks), graduation mark sheets for MCA, entrance scorecards and ID handy.
- For girls, defence, sports or category concessions, carry the relevant certificate.
- Ask which percentage is used (aggregate, PCM or degree) and whether it's rounded.
- Get written confirmation of the amount, conditions and payment method.
Apply for government schemes separately on their official portals.
Is a LIET Scholarship Worth Chasing?
Yes, especially for B.Tech. A 100% first-year waiver on the reported CSE fee of ₹1,51,000 is a big saving, and in some cases the girls', defence and sports add-ons stack on top. The fixed Bright Student awards (₹30,000 for B.Tech, up to ₹35,000 for MCA) look smaller next to total fees. Before you pay, ask:
- Is the scholarship open for my programme and year?
- Which marks are used, and from which exam?
- Is it automatic or do I apply?
- Is it deducted from fees or paid later?
- Does it continue in later years, and what must I keep up?
- Can it be combined with a government scheme?
- What happens if I withdraw?
- Is the laptop included, and is it in the fee?

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Assuming a portal-listed amount is guaranteed without written confirmation.
- Confusing a scholarship with a counselling-time discount.
- Assuming the B.Tech 90% PCM award also covers BCA, MCA or lateral entry.
- Planning finances before the offer letter arrives.
- Falling below 58% or 80% attendance and losing the award in Year 2.
- Missing document-verification deadlines.
Merit Waiver: What It Means in Rupees
Portals report the B.Tech CSE first-year fee as ₹1,51,000, and the merit waiver applies to the tuition part of it. A student with 80 to 89% PCM gets half the first-year tuition waived, and a student with 90%+ gets all of it. To work out the exact rupee value, ask the college for the tuition component of your fee.
| PCM Score | Waiver | Extra if Girl | Extra if Defence Ward |
