A. Exam calendar / examination dates notice
Confirms the planned examination sessions and dates. Check it when planning preparation, travel and leave. A later NTA notice can revise the schedule.
B. Information Bulletin
The main reference document for eligibility, age/attempt rules where applicable, papers, exam pattern, syllabus, application procedure, fee, category rules, PwD provisions and examination instructions. Read the bulletin for the exact year and session.
C. Online application form / registration notice
Announces when applications open, the application portal, the deadline, fee-payment deadline and any special instructions. Complete the form only through the official portal.
D. Application correction notice
States the correction-window dates, fields that can be edited, restrictions and any required procedure. Do not assume every field can be changed.
E. Exam-city intimation slip notice
Tells candidates when and how to view the city allotted for the examination. The city slip is not the admit card and should not be treated as proof of permission to enter the exam centre.
F. Admit card release notice
Explains when to download the admit card and what to check: name, application number, paper, date, shift, reporting time, venue and instructions. Contact NTA through official channels if details appear incorrect.
G. Exam-day advisory / candidate instructions
May cover reporting time, identity verification, permitted documents, prohibited items, frisking, biometric checks and conduct inside the centre. Follow the current year’s instructions.
H. Exam rescheduling, centre changes or special advisories
NTA may publish notices about centre-specific issues, local circumstances, technical matters or revised arrangements. Check notices close to the exam date.
I. Provisional answer key and recorded response sheet
After an examination session, NTA may publish provisional answer keys and recorded responses, together with instructions and deadlines for challenges. Follow the notice for the applicable paper/session and challenge fee.
J. Answer-key challenge notice and final answer key
Explains how to submit a challenge, what evidence or fee may be required, and the submission deadline. NTA reviews challenges under its published procedure and may then release a final key.
K. Result / NTA Score notice
Announces the result or NTA scores for the relevant paper/session and explains where candidates can view scorecards. Check official notices for the publication date and any result-specific instructions.
L. Re-examination, withheld result or special-case notices
If NTA issues an individual or group-specific notice, read the eligibility, deadline and action required carefully. Do not assume a special notice applies to every candidate.
M. Counselling and admission notices
JEE Main is an entrance examination; seat allocation and admission processes are handled through the relevant counselling/admission authorities and institutes. Monitor the official counselling authority and target institute websites for separate schedules and eligibility rules.
How to Check and Download an Official Notification
- 1Open jeemain.nta.nic.in/. Check the latest news, Current Events and Public Notices sections.
- 2Open the notice with the correct year, session and paper (Paper 1 B.E./B.Tech., Paper 2A B.Arch. or Paper 2B B.Planning, as applicable).
- 3Read the full notice and any linked Information Bulletin. Check the publication date, deadlines, eligibility and action required.
- 4Download the PDF and keep a copy for reference. Record the deadline in a calendar if action is required.
- 5For registration, login or confirmation-page tasks, use the official candidate portal linked from the JEE Main site.
- 6Recheck the official site before each deadline and before travelling to the exam centre, because updates may be issued later.
What to Check in Each Notification
- Notification title and publication date
- Applicable exam year, session and paper
- Application start/end dates and fee-payment deadline
- Eligibility, documents and category-specific instructions
- Correction-window dates and fields allowed to change
- Exam city slip/admit card availability and download method
- Exam date, shift, reporting time and centre instructions
- Answer-key challenge fee, evidence requirements and deadline
- Result/scorecard access instructions
- Any corrigendum, revised schedule or superseding notice
Important Cautions
- Treat the latest official NTA notice as authoritative if a date or instruction differs from this guide.
- Do not rely solely on coaching websites, social media posts, forwarded messages or search snippets.
- Never share passwords, OTPs or sensitive login details with unverified people.
- A city intimation slip and an admit card are different documents.
- A provisional answer key and a final answer key are different stages.
- Do not assume registration for one session automatically completes the application requirements for another session; read the relevant session notice.
- Keep the application confirmation page, fee receipt, admit card and scorecard safely stored.
