BITS Pilani admissions for 2026 are open across Integrated First Degree, Higher Degree and Doctoral programmes at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. First Degree admission (B.E., M.Sc., B.Pharm) runs through BITSAT, the Institute's own computer-based entrance test, conducted in two sessions each year. BITS Pilani does not take part in JoSAA/CSAB counselling and does not accept JEE Main scores for First Degree admission.

What's New in BITS Pilani Admissions 2026

  • BITSAT 2026 ran across two sessions: Session 1 in mid-April 2026, and Session 2 from 24–26 May 2026, with final closing scores published in September 2026.
  • A new tuition-blind admission scheme for the top 500 BITSAT rankers launched with AY 2026-27, marking 60 years since the Institute's founding.
  • The BITS HD (Higher Degree) test for M.E./M.Pharm 2026 ran around 25–26 May 2026.
  • BAAT (Business Analytics Admission Test) 2026 registrations closed in late February 2026.
  • PhD Admission 2026-27 (1st Semester) applications closed in late April 2026.

A Quick Look at BITS Pilani

BITS Pilani holds a NAAC 'A' grade and Institution of Eminence status. Its three India campuses (Pilani, K. K. Birla Goa, Hyderabad) run an identical admission process, fee schedule and scholarship policy, differing mainly in branch mix and BITSAT closing scores. What sets BITS Pilani apart is its purely merit-based, no-quota admission model and its mandatory Practice School programme, which places every student in industry for a structured work term before graduation.

Step 1: Registering on the Admission Portal

  1. Register on the official BITSAT portal with personal, academic and contact details.

BITS Pilani Course-Wise Admission 2026

BITS Pilani B.E. Admission 2026

B.E. runs across 9 branches (branch mix differs by campus), admitted via BITSAT, followed by online preference-filling and seat allotment across multiple iterations.

  • Candidates need a minimum aggregate of 75% across Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology, with at least 60% in each subject individually — no relaxation for any category.
  • Total programme fee is roughly ₹25 lakh in tuition over 4 years, per the official AY 2026-27 escalation schedule.

M.Sc. (Hons.) and B.Pharm Admission

Both are Integrated First Degree programmes admitted through the same BITSAT process as B.E., with the same eligibility bar and fee schedule. B.Pharm is offered only at Pilani and Hyderabad.

BITS Pilani M.E. / M.Tech / M.Pharm Admission 2026

Higher Degree candidates are admitted either through the Institute's own BITS HD online test, or by submitting a valid GATE score (for M.E./M.Tech) or GPAT score (for M.Pharm).

BITS Pilani MBA (Business Analytics) Admission 2026

MBA admission is based on BAAT (Business Analytics Admission Test), followed by a personal interview; CAT/XAT scores, prior work experience and academic history are also factored into the final merit evaluation.

PhD Admission

PhD admission runs each semester through a written qualifying test in the candidate's chosen discipline, followed by a departmental interview. A relevant master's degree is the minimum qualifying criterion; some departments accept a valid UGC-NET/GATE/CSIR-NET score in place of the written test.
